The butterfly joints are actually structural devices to bridge and reinforce cracks, usually made of East Indian Rosewood or Laurel because of their strength, as well as decorative qualities. Although used in furniture and architectural traditions from ages past, exposed butterflies like these have become the trademark of our work.
