About Keisho Collection
Mira's new line, the Keisho Collection, is her way of branching out from her father's vintage designs. In Japanese, keisho means continuance or succession. "I felt I wanted to do something different, not always just the same pieces," she says. The way she markes the wood stock for cutting varies at the instinctual level from her father's interpretations of exactly what the wood is asking to reveal. The boards Mira marks suggest their own contours and dimensions.
The Keisho Collection is an ongoing series of designs that Mira dedicates to her mother, Marion Nakashima (who died in 2004), created by Mira and the craftsmen who were trained by George.
